IPv4 PI Sponsorship for Existing Blocks
The RIPE NCC stopped assigning new IPv4 Provider Independent space to End Users in September 2012; only Internet Exchange Points still qualify, for their peering LAN. If you already hold an IPv4 PI block, or you are receiving one by transfer, we act as its sponsoring LIR.

Why Keep IPv4 PI Space
Provider Independence
The block stays with your organization when you change upstream providers, so nothing gets renumbered.
Registered to You
The assignment names your organization in the RIPE Database; the sponsoring LIR holds the contract and keeps the records current.
Your Choice of Sponsor
You can move the sponsorship to another LIR at any time, without your current LIR's consent (ripe-815).
Transferable
The block can move to another holder under the RIPE transfer policy (ripe-807).
What We Need From You
- • The prefix, registered at the RIPE NCC to the same legal entity as your account
- • A company registration extract from the last 3 months, or a verified government ID for an individual
- • Our account agreement and the ripe-815 End User confirmation, both signed online
